Fake Grass
YourTurf synthetic grass is the proven choice for many who have realized the benefits that a YourTurf synthetic lawn or putting green provides.
There is one customer group that is focused on something that fortunately most of us, most of the time, do not have to worry about. That is, a landscape that is not flammable and that will help to deter wild fires. YourTurf can be a solution for these homeowners as well. Besides not being flammable, YourTurf actually has a built-in flame-retardant. So, if something with fire such as a tiki-torch falls on a YourTurf lawn, the area where the torch fell and the area immediately surrounding it will singe, but beyond that small area, your yard will remain in tact. On a larger scale, if a wild fire threatens your neighborhood, a YourTurf lawn will aide in keeping it away from your home due to its built-in flame retardant.

Garden Grove Lifts Ban on Fake Grass
By Deepa Bharath
The Orange County Register
March 25, 2009
GARDEN GROVE Local residents will be able to legally install artificial turf in their front or back yards as long as they mix it up with live plants and make sure the fake grass looks good.
That was the verdict of City Council members Tuesday night after they voted 4-1 to approve a change in the municipal ordinance to lift the ban on artificial turf for single-family homes. Councilman Bruce Broadwater cast the sole vote against allowing fake grass. The ordinance applies only to single-family homes.
Council members made quick work of the vote on the issue, which became a controversy last summer when a few residents who had already installed artificial turf in their yards found out that it was in fact illegal. On Tuesday, there were no comments from the community members or council members on the matter.
The City Council originally sent the issue back to the Planning Commission on Feb 19 voted unanimously to recommend the ordinance change. Commissioners said the environmental impact is not signficant. They also suggested that the city allow homeowners to install the turf themselves because getting it done with a licensed professional can be costly.
The ordinance change will become effective next month after the City Council votes in favor of the second reading of the modified ordinance.
YourTurf is a proven artificial grass company in southern California. Municipalities throughout southern California not only approve of our specific turf, they have become consumers of YourTurf. As Garden Grove mayor Bill Dalton stated in September 2008, "Times are changing and we have to change with them. We know artificial turf conserves water and reduces our water bills. We must offer our people alternatives." YourTurf can save over 40,000 gallons of water a year just for one average size yard.

Is Fake Grass Ever a Good Idea?
by Dawn West
All About Lawns
When I was a kid, there was a house in my neighborhood with a nice big front year and the greenest lawn you'd ever seen. So green, in fact, it seemed fake. So green, in fact, it was fake. The house belonged to an older couple, and apparently they'd gotten tired of taking care of a lawn and settled on an artificial grass solution. At the time I thought it was tacky, but at least it was good for a joke. Now, I think I might be coming around.
Is it possible to put in fake grass without winning the ribbon for tackiest house in town? Probably note. Is it still worth it sometimes? Definitely. Here are a few tips for mitigating the offense.
Limit Visibility
The smaller the area you fill in with artificial grass, the less tacky it'll be. If you have an area near your patio, near your garden, near your garage, etc. where you struggle to keep real grass but where you're not eager to see mud and weeds day in and day out, consider a patch of artificial grass. Don't count on it blending in, but consider it as the better of two evils. Furthermore, backyard fake grass will get you fewer snide comments than front yard fake grass.
Hold Your Head High
If you're going to put in artificial grass on the same scale as my childhood neighbors, do it proudly. It's your yard, and if you like it, that's enough. My neighbor put a golf hole in his fake lawn, complete with a yellow flag. He could be seen happily putting on a regular basis. That's the spirit! Lawn maintenance isn't for everyone, but neither are other lawn alternatives like rock gardens, wild flowers, or ground covers. If you want fake grass, roll it out and smile. And just think, none of your neighbors will ever be able to complain about weeks from your lawn spreading into theirs!
Artificial grass takes a rare breed to truly appreciate, but if you're the type, be bold and enjoy.
As a major player in the synthetic grass industry, we appreciate the coverage of our industry, even in a less than flattering article as shown above. Yes, unfortunately there are many artificial turf products available on the market that do lead consumers to have a somewhat negative view of turf as the author in the above article had. Fortunately, there are a few companies like YourTurf that have revolutionized the entire artificial turf market with our incredibly realistic turf that is long lasting and durable and have led to thousands and thousands of very satisfied consumers.
If you would like more information on how consumers everywhere from homeowners to business owners to municipalities and schools have come to appreciate the real difference between YourTurf and the rest of the turf companies, many of which give the industry a bad name as described in the article above, contact YourTurf at 1(800) 613-TURF (8873) of fill out the information below and a customer care representative will be in contact with you.

You've Got a Lot of Questions...
We've Got a Lot of Answers!
Why go with synthetic grass for your lawn?
Synthetic grass, done right, can give you back your beautiful lawn without the hassle. No watering, no mowing, no fading, no fertilizing, no chemicals, no pet damage, no pests, no allergies and no muddy paw prints....and a lower overall cost too! Put simply, an artificial lawn is an easy solution that saves you money and time as a homeowner or business owner.
What makes YourTurf different than other synthetic turf products?
YourTurf is the best product on the market and is the closest alternative to natural grass. YourTurf is a blend of polyethylene and polypropylene, silica sand and cryogenic rubber that gives years of grass-like appearance and use, without the regular maintenance of natural grass. The installation process includes layers of crushed rock aggregate that facilitates stability and excellent drainage, our polyethylene and polypropylene blades tufted into a permeable mat, and a superior infill of cryogenic rubber and silica sand that is unparalleled. This professional installation will provide the safest, most effective surface. YourTurf artificial grass is resistant to temperature extremes, drains quickly, and is extremely low-maintenance.
Is it pet (especially dog) friendly?
So often our prospective customers say that they love their home and they love their dog but they just can't seem to marry the two - especially as it concerns the backyard, dirt in the house, etc. With a YourTurf artificial turf lawn, you can now have a dog and a green lawn. With over 70% of our existing customers being pet owners, YourTurf is a proven perfect solution for your yard if you have pets and a troubled yard. Fluids (e.g. urine) drain through, droppings can be picked up as they would for natural grass and/or rinsed off with a hose, and dogs can't dig through a YourTurf lawn. Muddy paw tracks in your house and on your carpet will be a thing of the past while letting your dog out in the yard right after a bath will be a thing of the future!
There are several companies selling artificial turf. Why should I choose YourTurf?
A superior line of products, coupled with professional service second to none, makes YourTurf the only choice for your home or business synthetic grass needs. There are various newcomers in the artificial lawn market but few that can offer the level of quality product and service that YourTurf provides. If you are considering a lesser product, please be certain that you are dealing with a reputable firm that performs their own installations, has a contractor's license and is insured and bonded. Avoid the pain of a synthetic grass lawn that does not last, requires continual maintenance and does not live up to claims of good drainage. As with everything else in life, you get what you pay for.
What about those companies that want to put the exact same turf used on athletic fields in my yard?
Have you ever watched a game on television being played on an artificial turf field and wondered what that "dust" was that went flying up when a player landed on it. That is the infill of rubber and sand. From far away, those turf fields on TV look like regular green grass fields. However, up close, these turf fields are a "sea of black rubber" with only the very top of the green blades showing through. This is done for functional purposes as the athletic turf fields require a high level of cushion which is accomplished by a turf with less blades and more infill. For your residence or business, however, you don't want or need a sparse artificial lawn with a significant amount of black rubber showing. YourTurf, therefore, in addition to its line of athletic field turf, has designed an entire line of turf specifically for residential and commercial purposes which provides all the comfort and stability you need while at the same time providing an aesthetically superior grass. So, be cautious of those companies that are proposing to install the same exact field turf used on athletic fields at your residence or business.
What about my kids playing on YourTurf?
Kids love their YourTurf synthetic lawn and you will too! YourTurf is softer and safer than real grass and kids have loads of fun playing on it. Parents love the "no more stained pants and scraped knees". YourTurf's Playground turf combines the YourTurf synthetic grass system with padding below the turf that allows critical fall ratings acceptable for school yards, daycare centers and applicable residential settings. Contact YourTurf today for its long list of showcase Playground synthetic grass installations!
How long does it last?
We don't know - YourTurf hasn't been replaced. Based on historical performance and current testing, a YourTurf artificial lawn is expected to have a 20-25 year life span. The oldest installation is located in Arizona and has been there for nearly 20 years. It still looks good and hasn't faded. YourTurf backs its high quality artificial grass with a 15-Year Warranty!
Why doesn't it fade?
YourTurf has a built-in UV protection solution that allows it to hold its color even under the most dramatic conditions. Independent studies show that a YourTurf artificial lawn fades at a rate of less than 1% per year. This means that after fifteen years in direct sunlight, any color change will still be imperceptible to the human eye.
How well does it drain?
The engineering of the YourTurf synthetic grass coupled with the crushed rock aggregate sub-base creates a wonderful drainage system for your yard. The backing on YourTurf's artificial grass products is permeable for drainage and environmentally friendly at the same time. It also serves as a weed barrier. The sub-base is the other key component of the synthetic grass drainage system as it facilitates the reception of significant amounts of water during heavy rains.
Can it stain?
No. If there is spillage of some sort, it should be hosed off to prevent them from attracting dirt and bugs. Detergents and cleaners won't harm or discolor the YourTurf artificial grass products. Even paint can be softened with paint thinner and then rinsed off without impacting the fake grass.
How hot does the grass get?
YourTurf Synthetic Grass does not stay as cool as natural grass which has water running through it, but it does not absorb and radiate heat like pavement, rock or brick. Even through summer heat a YourTurf artificial lawn will remain pleasantly functional.
What about gophers? Rabbits? Bugs?
YourTurf will eliminate any troubles you have with rabbits and gophers. Rabbits will no longer ruin your lawn, gophers cannot come up through the turf and bugs will move away from the synthetic grass! Your new lawn will be safer because you will no longer have a need for pesticides.
What kind of maintenance does it require?
Maintenance on a YourTurf artificial grass lawn is more a matter of keeping it clean than maintaining and mainly comprises removing organic materials from the surface, typically by using a leaf blower. Rakes may be required for removing heavier objects; however, the leaf blower is the ideal tool for general upkeep. A stiff, natural bristle broom can be used to "fluff" high traffic areas.
How does it affect my property value?
A YourTurf synthetic grass lawn has proven to increase property values as well as curb appeal. It is the most aesthetically pleasing and realistic looking synthetic turf on the market. As importantly, a YourTurf artificial lawn lowers water and maintenance costs and eliminates fertilizers, herbicides and mowers. Several of our customers have sold their homes and purchased new ones. They report that their YourTurf artificial lawns added tremendously to the curb appeal of their home. Potential buyers were very excited about the prospect of purchasing a home with a beautiful lawn that required no maintenance.
Why is it important to work with a company that has a contractor's license?
When you contract to have work done in your home, remember that to do any project that totals over $500, a company must have a valid contractor's license. By using a licensed contractor, you are assured that the contractor has adequate knowledge and experience to do your job right, and that they are covered by the necessary bonding, insurance and workers compensation insurance to protect you, the homeowner. Without a license, you become liable. YourTurf is licensed, bonded and insured.
How long does it take to install?
An average landscaping area might take 2 to 3 days. Each installation is customized so it is sometimes hard to determine the estimated length of installation without a site visit.
How much does it cost?
YourTurf is not cheap...the best never is. Think of it as an asset and an investment that can increase the value of your property. Unlike most expenses you put into your home, YourTurf will pay for itself over a matter of a few years. For example, say you spend $200 per month on landscaping and water costs, that equates to $2,400 a year. Over five years, your cost is $12,000. The average YourTurf lawn can be installed for much less and lasts several more times than this.
Does all artificial turf come with a warranty?
Most artificial grass companies claim to have a warranty. The problem is that the warranty: i) doesn't cover many potential issues; ii) is usually for 10 years or less; and, iii) is often not honored by the synthetic grass company should an issue arise (YourTurf knows as it has serviced numerous past customers of other synthetic grass companies). With YourTurf, your synthetic grass comes with a 15-Year Warranty, the longest in the industry. Further, because YourTurf has the best product on the market place and it stands by its product, the YourTurf warranty covers many more potential issues that could arise with a synthetic grass installation as compared to any other company, including protection against fading from sunlight, discoloration from urine or chemicals/detergents and seaming issues. So, pay attention to the warranty and make sure to understand what the company's policy (and history) should you need service after the installation. This is evidenced often by the company's Better Business Bureau rating with which YourTurf carries an AAA rating!

With that in mind, YourTurf has designed and engineered its artificial grass system with one overall goal in mind - Customer Satisfaction! We understand that the customer is most satisfied when offered a superior looking product, functioning at the highest level, for the longest time, at a reasonable price.
YourTurf's expertise and experience through the years has contributed to the development of its artificial grass system that adheres to its principles while servicing all of the various synthetic grass applications and customer demands. The result is a highly advanced turf system that is anchored by the most real-looking, durable and functional artificial turf products on the market today.
YourTurf's lines of artificial grass are as follows:
Monofilament Series
The Monofilament Two Tone and Green artificial turf lines are two of the more popular lines of grass that we carry. Both of these artificial turf products are "infilled" using 20 grade dust free silica sand and cryogenic rubber which enhances both the visual and performance attributes including drainage and durability - two of the key functional attributes of synthetic turf to note. The durable Monofilament Series can also stand up to high traffic areas while still maintaining a very natural look. The Monofilament Series features a 46 oz. per sq/yd of 6-ended Polyethylene Monofilament, tufted at 2" inch pile height and having 2 layers of 13 pic polybac as the primary backing and 20 oz. urethane as the secondary coating. This Series features YourTurf's patented permeable Enviro Cel backing. This superior backing allows the artificial turf to drain up to 105 inches per hour which is more than three times faster than the punched hole competition. This grass comes in green and two-tone color, which is a combination of green and olive color synthetic grass blades. You can never go wrong with the Monofilament Series whatever the application.
Ultra Series
The Ultra Series is the latest in "low-infill" technology. YourTurf has prided itself on providing a lead-free product to its customers and this is evidenced most in the low-infill Ultra Series. The Ultra Series is an 80 oz. per sq/yd 100% Monofilament Polyethylene. That is, no nylon blades, which traditionally have had a lead content higher than acceptable levels, and with which the majority "low-infill" products available on the market today comprise. The Ultra Series product consists of two different types of blades with the same artificial grass product. One blade type within the product is the straight Monofilament Polyethylene synthetic turf blades evident in the Monofilament Series and this is supported by a secondary blade that is a "texturized" Monofilament Polyethylene blade. This style is engineered for climates where an almost constant barrage of sunshine and UV rays require additional ultra violet stability. The Ultra Series has a 1.75 in. pile height and is tufted into 2 layers of 13 pic polybac as the primary backing and 20 oz. urethane as the secondary coating. As with the Monofilament Series, YourTurf's Ultra Series also features YourTurf's patented Enviro Cel backing. This allows the artificial turf to drain up to 105 inches per hour which is more than three times faster than the punched hole products which comprise the majority of the turf products available in the market today. This superior low-infill product series is available in both Green and Two-Tone (green and olive) colors.
Classic Series
The Classic Series is our slit film landscaping synthetic turf product. This turf is what initially revolutionized the entire artificial turf industry in recent years. In contrast to the Monofilament Series, the Classic Series design incorporates wider synthetic grass blades that have "slits" within them that, with our special equipment, we "bloom" resulting in a plush, full, soft grass. Like the Monofilament Series, the Classic Series is an infilled product using 20 grade dust free silica sand and cryogenic rubber which enhances both the visual and the performance characteristics. The Classis Series is a 52 oz per sq/yd slit film Polyethylene blade tufted on 3/8 gauge with a pile height of 2 inches and has 2 layers of 13 pic polybac and a layer of action bac as the primary backing with 20 ounces of urethane as the secondary coating. The Classic Series also features YourTurf's patented permeable Enviro Cel backing. This allows the turf to drain up to 105 inches an hour which is more than three times faster than the punched hole competition. The Classic Series is available in green.
Professional Series Putting Green
The Professional Series Putting Green is the professional's (and amateur's) choice for synthetic putting greens. The Professional Series has a 1 1/4 inch pile height and 38 oz. per sq/yd of Polypropylene fiber having 2 layers of 13 pic polyback as the primary backing and 20 ounce urethane as the secondary coating. This putting green is an infilled product which consists of up to one inch of dust free silica sand. The filled blades are then rolled with an industrial roller which serves to bend the last 1/8th to 1/4th inch of blade similar to a real golf course green. Our design team can offer greens similar to any you have played on.
The Player Series Putting Green is our low-infill putting green. This is a 48 oz. per sq/yd product consisting of texturized blade tufted at 3/4 inch pile height having 2 layers of 13 pic polybac as the primary backing and a rubberized secondary backing with action bac. This synthetic putting green does not require infill but we put a light infill of sand at the bottom of the blades to give the putting green more ballast and texture.
